ZAMBIA INFORMATION HIGHWAY - OPEN DATA PORTALS

The Government has launched the e-government statistical data portals which will increase access to quality data for managing and monitoring development results including tracking of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This was launched in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) on 10th December, 2014. The main function is to provide a platform for sharing statistical data on development programmes and was installed as a result of the AfDB's desire to step up statistical support to African countries in line with the priorities in its strategy for the period 2013 to 2022. The data portal is a cross-beneficiary platform which would benefit academic and research institutions, Government ministries, private sector agencies, financial and economic institutions among many others. The data portals have been installed in key ministries namely Finance, Labour, Transport and Communications, Tourism and at the Bank of Zambia. Portals have also been installed at Zambia Revenue Authority and the Central Statistical Office.
